OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT

Superintendent

Dear Italy ISD family and community,

It is my  pleasure and privilege to be serving as your Superintendent.  I officially began my time in Italy ISD on March 29, 2021 but have been working and living in the Ellis County area since 1989.

I grew up in Carey, Ohio, which is a small family-oriented town like Italy.  I lived and worked on the farm where my parents still live today.  My elementary and high school were all located in the same building where I attended from kindergarten through graduation.  I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio in 1987 and then taught for 2 years before moving to Texas with my husband.  I graduated with my master’s degree from Dallas Baptist University in 1997 and went on to complete my superintendent certification from San Angelo State University in 2007.  My husband and I have 2 daughters, Kara and Kristen, who are married and live in Ellis County as well.

I have served as a classroom teacher, campus administrator, and a district special education director before coming to Italy to serve as your superintendent.  Doing what is best for the students so they can learn and grow to their greatest potential has been my mission for all my years in education.  My philosophy is grounded on building positive relationships with students, families, staff and the community. These relationships motivate and foster levels of collaboration that evolve into outstanding programs and services that positively engage and meet the diverse needs of the students.

My experiences across all grade levels have afforded me the opportunity to understand the challenges and rewards from the classroom, campus and district perspective.  I have an excellent reputation as a servant leader that improves student achievement, makes decisions that are rooted in what is best for students,  effectively communicates and engages with all stakeholders, successfully manages multiple district responsibilities and possesses the ability to unite individuals to fulfill the vision and mission of Italy ISD.

I encourage the Italy community and school district to continue fostering and nurturing the positive partnerships and relationships that make this such a special place for our children to learn and grow.
