Italy ISD was informed this morning that Italy High School was included on a list of districts throughout the state for a “potential” threat. Similar messages earlier this week were determined to be a hoax and posed no credibility, with the person who distributed it quickly arrested. Italy ISD takes every threat seriously. While we do not know the source of this post, they are being investigated. We have informed our local police, as well as the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department and the state highway patrol that serve our area. They will be making extra rounds at our campuses as a precaution. Our School Resource Officers will continue to monitor our campuses on a regular basis and make sure all exterior doors are secure. It is standard procedure for our classroom doors to remain closed and locked when students are inside and all visitors on campuses are required to present a photo ID that is scanned through our visitor background check system, Raptor. These are just a few of the safety measures Italy ISD currently has in place for our students and staff. I hope this will help make students, staff, parents and our community feel even more secure during the school day. We want to remind you that if you see something, say something. We appreciate any information that will assist in keeping our students and staff safe. School safety is not a joke and sharing social media posts with perceived threats only exacerbates the issue. Parents, please talk with your children about the severity of posting unconfirmed and alarming content on social media. There are multiple ways to report concerns to Italy ISD, both anonymously and directly, on the “Speak Up” link in the website or by telling a campus administrator, teacher or officer. You are also encouraged to report to our local authorities or the iWatchTexas website. We appreciate all your help and support. Rachel Kistner Superintendent

Friday Night Lights in Italy, watching our Gladiator Football Team, is an exciting and fun family-friendly event to show our Italy pride and support our students. Safety and security is of utmost importance not only in our schools but also at all our extracurricular events. For all home football games, all spectators are being asked to remain behind the fence that separates the bleachers/concessions from the track and the field at all times. Spectators will not be allowed on the track or the field before, during or after the game. Staff working the game will be wearing lanyards with access tags in order to fulfill their responsibilities and provide support for students, spectators and guests. At all times, please make sure the only thing our players and fellow spectators hear from us is cheering on our students. Please refrain from heckling, yelling or using inappropriate language towards our coaches and staff or in front of families, students and small children. Let’s keep this a family-friendly event. At the conclusion of the football game, players will have a few minutes to meet their families at the fence, however, players will remain on the track and families will remain behind the fence. We look forward to seeing everyone at the game! Have fun cheering on our students and spending time with your family and friends! Go Italy Gladiators!
